Non-Affiliates (undergraduates or postgraduates from other universities or colleges, or high school students) who work in a Penn laboratory are required to take Introduction to Laboratory and Biological Safety at Penn for Non-Affiliates. This registration page is for in-person orientation offerings. June 2026 in-person orientation dates and times are now available for registration. Registration will close three days in advance of the scheduled training date. Please go here if you want the online orientation option.
Note: If a student will continue to work in a Penn laboratory after the summer or their program ends, the student will need to take the normal Penn laboratory safety training curriculum through Workday Learning, including Management of Hazardous Waste. EHRS training course descriptions can be found on the EHRS Workday Learning Selection Guide page.
Penn students do not need to complete this registration form. Penn undergraduate or graduate students who work in labs must be enrolled in laboratory safety courses through Workday Learning.
If a date is full, you will be notified by EHRS. If you have questions or need directions, please call 215-898-4453 or email prov-ehrs-training@pobox.upenn.edu (formerly traininghelp@lists.upenn.edu).
